Basecamp: This is a proper African safari adventure on your bike! This one is a bit different to all our other trips due to it being far away and well, we're heading to Africa, so we are offering this as a mixed trip, so bring your partner along for the adventure of a lifetime. We will all meet up in Johannesburg, South Africa at the international airport for the start and then drive 5 hours up North to Mashatu, Botswana where we will hop on our bikes and start exploring the African bush. We will be sleeping in different bush camps every night, under the stars, in beautiful tent camps. This is truly a magical experience and a must do. This could also be a great opportunity to extend your holiday for a few more days or weeks after our safari to explore the rest of Botswana or all the beautiful parts of South Africa and beyond.

Level: This trip is all about the experience. It is about riding your bike amongst wild animals not knowing what you're going to see or come across. It's not about riding the best singletrack in the world, this is about meandering along animal tracks with only a ranger on a bike with his rifle to seperate you from the elephant herd a few meters away. You get your adrenaline kicks from bumping into an elephant rather than from screaming down mountains out here. This is a magical adventure. It will touch you in so many different ways. You need to be a proficient, confident bike rider, but is suitable for all levels.

Fitness: You need to be an avid mountain biker, but the terrain is fairly flat with a few hills. You don't need a crazy amount of fitness for this trip. This is a trip to slow it all down a bit, to appreciate your surroundings and soak up the African sun. It will be hot, so you need to be able to handle the heat. We usually ride early in the morning up until lunch time at a very cruisy pace and stop whenever we spot animals, then it's time for siesta, so bring a good book. When it's a bit cooler we head out on the bikes again for a sunset cruise. It is very relaxed & very chill in a good way. This is probably not the trip for you if you can't ride without checking your Garmin stats and if you don't like stopping on your rides. This one is for those looking to soak it all in while watching the sunset sipping a G&T.

Yoga: We won't be doing our usual yoga classes on this trip due to the nature of where we will be in the African bush. We have a siesta every afternoon due to the heat, so after a bit of down time we can do some stretching, and gentle yoga movements while sipping on a G&T ;) We won't have any yoga mats available here.

summary:  This adventure is a journey. You will leave Botswana with a heavy heart & experiences to treasure that you won't find on any other bike trip. A must do, once in a lifetime trip. We will all meet up at JNB International airport OR Tambo on the morning of the 23 October. We have to leave the airport, packed & loaded up at 9am as we have a 5hour journey to get to the border of Botswana. If you cannot get an early flight arrival, please be sure to arrive the evening before. For departure, please don't book a flight leaving any earlier than 8 pm on the 27th October.
